The Art of Seeing
by IJK
A five-minute attention experience. No gallery required.
Just the world already in front of you.
A practice of attention for noticing what habit, assumption and speed can cause us to miss.

Looking is not always seeing
Looking is not always seeing.
We often meet the world through what we already know, expect or assume.
Seeing asks us to stay a little longer.
Where would you like to look?
Where would you like to look?
What we notice changes depending on where we look.
Within us
What am I assuming?
What have I stopped noticing?
Between us
What am I hearing?
What might I be interpreting too quickly?
Around us
What patterns, structures or voices sit outside the frame?
Looking, and seeing
Looking
“I know this place.”
Seeing
A shadow crossing a doorway you have walked past hundreds of times.
Looking
“The team isn’t performing.”
Seeing
Decisions pass through one person. Information arrives late. Ownership disappears between teams.
Where this began
Where this began
The Art of Seeing grew from a question I have carried across very different worlds: what does it mean to truly see?
Future experiences in attention, perception and observation
The practice continues beyond the screen.
The Circle of Seeing
Soon, this experience will step off the screen.
A two-hour immersive exploration of the world around us and the world within us. Art, life, nature, sound, fiction, and cinema will be our starting companions as we pause, observe, and encounter different ways of seeing.
The first circles are still taking shape. If you would like to be part of an introductory circle, leave your email, and I will keep you posted.
Future experiences will explore attention, perception, observation, and the ways we make meaning, individually and together. They may take the form of conversations, exercises, walks, workshops, or shared experiments.
Occasional notes only. No noise. Unsubscribe anytime.
Seeing organisations
Seeing organisations
The same practice of attention can be applied to organisations: how decisions move, where information gets lost, what assumptions become embedded and what the formal structure fails to show.
Shikumi is where I apply this way of seeing to organisational systems.
You already know how to look.
The invitation is to look again.
